A past employer sent me a video about closed doors. The insightful video kept me thinking about a variety of things. I thought about so many instances of closed and open doors in my life and how I reacted to or failed to react appropriately to either position of the door (open or closed). Well, I thought it was a great opportunity to pen a brief thought on closed doors.

As I sat here and pondered a catchy title/caption for this writing, I thought about the open-closed door, the closed-open door and so forth. As you can see, I have settled upon, “The Closed Open Door”. This, I believe, would evoke thoughts of doors being closed while being opened.

I once saw a statement about staring too long at the shut door that we fail to see the one that is open ahead. However, I decided to comment from the perspective of staring at one part of the closed door itself while failing to see the position of the knob. Yes, the position of the knob indicates whether the door is secure or simply closed. Can you imagine staring at a closed door that might have been filled with abundant treasures since you departed/exited? Yet, we miss the opportunity to grab, gather or claim those treasures, because we perceived and maintained that the door was locked (closed securely).

Well, this video gives me so much food for thought. So, without telling my life story, I would just like to leave with you a few thoughts that might remind you of instances where you lost out by staring at the closed-open door. Have you ever lost a loved one who might have agonized for a long time, yet you focused on the loss rather than the pain from which the late soul was relieved? Have you ever wallowed in self-pity over having broken up with someone you loved and trusted than embracing the opportunity of meeting someone you deserve?

Did you ever keep thinking about the people you worked with and the bad experiences they created rather than the opportunities provided after having resigned or being fired? I could go on and on, but I would like to hear from you. What is the position of the knob on that door? Is it an open-closed or closed-open door? How has this brief awakening or reminder about the door of which we speak brought clarity on perspectives on D-door in discussion?

Looking forward to hearing from you pretty soon!

Dr. H.
