It’s your day – it’s your time of the year mom here, mom there; moms everywhere!!! Shoutout to the wonderful, splendid, adorable, compassionate, resilient, daring, ever-precious moms!!!

Each year around this time of the year, mothers are celebrated and the fanfare is massive for many while moderate for others. Whatever the extent of your mother’s celebration, have we thought about the mother of the earth? Would you consider Eve to be the first mother to have existed? Was she ever celebrated as such or cursed because of her perceived sinful deed? What motherly footprints has Eve stamped on this earth for us to walk in? Some food for thought there! – So much for that.

Back to this grand celebration! As usual, I purport that those mothers, like responsible and honourable fathers should be not only be celebrated once per year but respected perennially. I salute all those mothers who have gone above and beyond for their call of duty to care for their children: I applaud the mothers who have sacrificed their health and sometimes wealth to give their children an education. I congratulate those mothers whose sweat and blood have flooded their children with the gadgets and necessities for their (children’s) comfort and care. Kudos!

I would be remiss though, had I not mentioned those who had passed on and those who never existed morally or in other fashion for their children. Yes, I pause to remember those who yearn for their mothers’ touch. Well, yours truly has this longing and would like to let you know that you are not alone. So as we, not mourn and wallow in self-pity but express gratitude for what we had or for some what we never did, merely for just being here. Here’s an excerpt from one of my books, “Poetic Soul: Moving Gracefully to A Fresh Beat”. Enjoy!

LOVE LETTER TO MOM

My thoughts of you, are they true?

Our reunion, would I be remiss?

To love this strong

Has puzzled me since birth

Ever longing that you could

Return to earth

Dear Mom,

The message in a bottle is for you today, to ask some

questions, hear what you never said. Did you plan to

see me through, or was I your biggest mistake; could

you somehow avoid your life so soon to take?

Did you ever love me dearly? Was your life

as bright as the midday sun? Where had your

life ended, and when had mine begun?

At birth when you held me so tenderly, in my eyes,

what future did you see: lawyer, doctor, nurse,

teacher? Did you care what I would have become?

Were you an angel or a tiger; was life a war zone filled

with glee? Were you a wrestler or athlete, always

preparing to compete?

Of course, your comments are always welcome (as usual)!

Enjoy!

Maria
